I'm looking for someone who's had the experience of dealing with a siezed bolt on the ball joint to strut bracket. I've tried just about everything to break this bolt loose short of welding a sacrificial socket to it. Right now I've already started the process of cold chiseling the head off so I can at least remove the bracket and replace the ball joint.
Could I expect the threaded shaft to be any easier once the head is gone? What I see is an easier path for some PBlaster to penetrate the threads. Then I thought I'd cut a notch in the end and try twisting it with an offset screwdriver.
Anyone been through this? Your thoughts?
Would I have a death wish driving around with only three bolts in the bracket? ;)
So close and yet so far away. I made it through the other ball joint, an outer tie rod end, and all new sway bar bushings including the lower link bushings. One bolt is holding me from finishing a satisfying round of front-end work.
Thanks for your help.
