Okay, I just bought a great project. This 760 is a 1-owner beauty, but it's got a nasty idle and power problem. Lots of miles (193k) but generally clean and in good shape. I think I've narrowed it down to fuel injectors that need cleaning, but that means decommissioning the car for a bit, so I'd like to make sure I'm on the right track.
Sypmtoms:
Poor idle--misses intermittently (cold or hot), sometimes several times/second, sometimes smooth and then miss every 2-4 seconds
No Power under mid- to full-throttle
It NEVER stalls nor has any issue starting right up
Here's where I am with my diagnosis:
- Compression: 150-150-155-150
- Coolant Pressure Test: 12psi for 7 minutes, no change = OK
- Swapped ECU = No change in condition
- Swapped Radio Suppression Relay = No change
- Major service (new Air filter, plugs, wires, oil & filter, cap & rotor) = No change
- Tried the Carbon removal technique in FAQ (sucking water, then FI cleaner into the intake) = Helped a bit, idles a bit more smoothly, but still misses and no power.
- Turbo pressurizes to just over the pressure mark but not full boost
- Turbo intake hoses were replaced (AMM all the way to Intercooler) = No change
- Vacuum hoses were replaced and are good/holds vacuum.
My next step is to have the Fuel Injectors cleaned and replace the seals. Any other thoughts? I'm hoping this is it as I'm running out of things to check!! Maybe a faulty O2 sensor or Cat?
