3rd ecu failure on 84 Volvo B23F 200 1984

Hi,

I am new to Brickboard and have a question about ecu failures. I have looked at the frequently asked questions and did a search on ecu's but did not find this problem. So far I have had 3 failures on the ecu (on both 0 280 000 510 and 0 280 000 503) on my 84 Volvo.

The last two failures occurred about 2 weeks apart. Both times I was going 30 mph and suddenly lost power. I had spark at the spark plugs. The fuel pumps run but the injectors are not powered. I opened the case on the ecu and found an open circuit on the circuit board near the 25 pin connector (near pin 7). I got these ecu's at the local pick and pull. The 2nd one lasted 2 years and the 3rd one lasted only 2 weeks. The failure mode seems to be the same. Both had an open circuit near pin 7 and suddenly lost power.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Best regards,
Tom Ford
