Hello from Down Under.
My dear old 1995 940s with its B230FK motor has a leaking gasket where the turbo meets the manifold.
I presume my turbo is a Mitsubishi as there are no Garrett markings on it. I figured that since I have to take it off to replace the gasket I may as well get the turbo bearings replaced. I called the Garrett turbo people as they are the biggest here in Sydney and they said because it is a Mitsi it could cost up to $1000 depending on what parts it needs. I enquired about changing to a Garrett turbo as I know these engines also came with them. The man said the Garrett's have a different manifold.
Am I better off sticking with what I have got and perhaps upping the waste gate pressure or should I try to source a Garrett and manifold from a wreck? If so what model cars should I be looking at?
My B230 FK is only 135hp which is fine around town but needs a bit more in the country especially on hills.
I recently had the shocks, bushes and struts replaced and Michellin MXV8 tires fitted. Well worth the money. The kids don't get car sick anymore!
Cheers,
Chris
