swap intank pump or tank assembly? 700 1988

My friends 88 740 turbo has a dead fuel pump....
I have a spare known good set of turbo fuel pumps, with a tank.
Is it faster to change the intank pump, or to put in my other tank with the pump already installed?
hmmmm??????? What do you think?
on the down side, she filled up to be shure she wasn't out of gas ; (
Yay gas shower for me!!!!
