80 244 serious power lose when a.c. turned on 200

my friend's 80 244 186k miles really is bogging down with the a.c. engaged.the wiring harness looks BAD; as in serious cracking near the plug on the firewall,is there something i should look for ?it also seems to loose idle speed just while sitting there...any suggestions? thank you,kris
