83 240 Hard Start 200 1983

Here's one I've posted a couple of times, and I'm still looking for the answer! This car generally runs perfectly. No power problems, stalling or hesitation problems and fuel economy is fine. Problem is getting it started. Originally the problem only showed when warm, now sometimes also when cold. First crank, unless you keep cranking for ten seconds or more, it won't start. Let off the key, wait for only one second, or for longer, flick the key and it starts right up on one revolution...consistently and idles perfectly! Always always always starts on the second keying. Doesn't matter if the first crank is three seconds or ten, the second crank starts it. If the car is warm, and has only been off for a minute or two, it starts on the first try. Check valve at the pump has been changed. No vacuum hose leaks, no leak in the intake air bellows. Fuel pumps both run. Main fuse and holder has been changed. Ground points cleaned and lubed. This one really has me stumped. Running the pumps before cranking doesn't seem to make a difference. What am I missing??? AMM sure seems good from the other running conditions, and car was squeaky clean at smog time. Help! Running out of solutions here! I'm thinking this must be some sort of voltage drop problem in the ignition....maybe.

Thx,

DS
