944t manual???

did the 940 turbo ever come with a manual transmission in it? i am pretty sure that they didn't stateside, but what about say a german model? I really like those and I think I can get decent power out of one with a cam, intercooler upgrade and a boostcontroler...but frankly I am sick of auto's...yes yes AW autos are really good, but i wanna row my own gears....if they never came with those, what about retrofiting a t-5 from a junked camaro or mustang? those are a dime a dozen and parts are easy to come by...has anyone done this?
