Murphey's Laws and My Iginition System 200 1984

Just for the record, I am NOT a big fan of Murphy. It seems that his laws are the ones that always get me in trouble. I tried to rewire too many things at a time and once again Murphey has pulled the rug out from under me.

Okay, l've searched the forums for answers but none were to be found. This is my situation. First of all I have absolutely no spark. My vacuum hoses, plug wires/plugs, distributor cap/rotor, coil, AMM are all new (within the last 6 months). One thing though, I checked the primary and secondary resistance on my coil (bosch): the primary resistance (ie between terminals 1- and 15+) is 1.7 ohms (Bentley says it should be between 1.1 to 1.3 ohms); and my secondary resistance (ie between 1- and center tower) is 13,260 ohms (it should be between 9,600 to 11,600 ohms). Is the fact that my primary resistance is not within the proper range something I should be concerned with? The voltage to the coil with the ignition switch on is fine (12.26 volts).

Also, I back-probed the connection into the ignition control unit at terminal 10 (thick black wire) with the ignition off, and I got good continuity (I think this means she is well grounded). With the ignition switch on I back-probed terminal 2 (thin blue wire) and got proper voltage (12.26 volts).

Next I checked the Hall sender by removing the harness connector from the distributor and tried to jump terminals C and B (following the Bentley instructions). I never got a spark from the plug when I jumped the connection. I checked the voltage to terminal A of the Hall sender and got 8.9 volts. I don't know what the proper voltage should be. My Bentley says "if voltage is not present...and no wiring faults are found and the coil is working correctly, the control unit is faulty". Does the 8.9 volts to the Hall sender connection (terminal A) mean this is the problem?

Have I done everything I can to isolate the ignition control unit as the problem?

I am planning on driving to California from South Carolina and I am starting to doubt my diagnostic abilities (and the likelihood that my brick will make it).

Thanks a lot. Ben
