240 Wagon... Volvo wannabe 200

Hello all!

Thank you for the informative website. I have recently become enamored with the 240 wagons and am considering looking for a 90-93 with 150K or less.

I spent some time searching the FAQ and whatnot, however it seems geared to the 700/900 cars.

I have a few questions. The 240 is legendary for longevity- what should be expected for a lifespan of a well maintained 240 of this vintage? I would likely look for an automatic car (wife prefers it)- Are the auto's reliable?

Are there any areas to watch for? I know the hatch will frequently rust, any other trouble spots to watch? I also read about the timing belts, realizing they need to be changed religiously.

Thanks in advance, if anyone knows of a good online resource for this information, please direct me!!
