Transmission Swap J type to D 120-130

I have a J type M41 in my 67 Amazon which needs to be rebuilt. I have a M41 D type that has had a recent rebuild. What problems, if any, could I expect installing the D type? Will the top cover from my J type which uses the long shifter work on the D tranny? Thanks, Bob
