what is the difference between aw70 and aw71 trans? are they interchangable? 200 1984

If I were to buy a rebuilt transmission for my automatic 84 240 with aw70 trans, could I replace the aw70 with aw71? What would be the advantages, if so? Thanks for the info. Regards, kenneth
