Hi there. Here are a few tips: As for the timing belt, check to see if the distributor is turning. That is, pop off the cap and see if the rotor turns when you crank the car. Since you say you have spark, chances are you are okay, but you don't specify spark from the coil or from the distributor. You can also look at the camshaft through the oil fill cap. Both rotor and cam should turn. If not, belt snapped. An even easier method is listening for compression as you crank. If you crank it and the engine turns very fast without the usual "chug-chug" rhythm, you may have broken the belt. I would listen for that first. If the crank is rapid and very even with no pulsing, check for the rotor and cam movement next.

That said, the diagnostic block is the little black box right behind the left strut tower. With ignition off, plug the flylead in the lid into hole #2. Ign on, press the button for one second and release. The diode will give you codes to look up in your Bentley manual, or here on the board. If you have spark, that means the pumps are working.
