960 broken t-belt FOLLOW-UP

Friend and I dug into the 960 with the broken t-belt. Didn't even need to install a new belt. Rotated the cams to their timing marks and tried to turn the crank to TDC....

It went about 90 degrees, and then "CLUNK." Likewise, turning the other way about 1/2 turn, "CLUNK."

I guess it's a boat anchor now.

But he has a replacement motor for the car...

Thanks to all who posted and emailed suggestions.
