Sunroof sticking -- premature 'tilting' ? 900

Hello,
My sunroof was working well until I wrecked my car and had it sitting for a few months. Now, I have a really hard time getting it to open (I have to fiddle w/ pushing on it to assist the motor, etc.) but once it starts moving it slides very well to the open position. However, when I try to close it, the sunroof immediately tilts up slightly (as if it were going into the "tilt" mode) and starts to bind. If I force it closed, there are scratches all over the top of the sunroof. Its almost like it is simultaneously operating in "close" and "tilt" mode causing it to scrape the top of the car upon closing.

The tilt mode works fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks for all your help!
