Intermittent starting problems 200 1986

Guy,

You should check, clean and if possible replace the 25 AMP fuel injection fuse and holder with a water proof, marine type fuse holder and new fuse. The fuse is clipped to the inside of the driver's side fender on a rail. There is a heavy red lead from the battery positive terminal coming in one side, follow that lead from the battery to help find the fuse/holder. It's located in the general area of the power steering reservoir. This may not be your problem but the exposed fuse will fail sooner or later and shut the entire FI system down. It can also cause intermittant starting problems. The fix is easy with a water proof fuse holder, new fuse, dielectric grease, a little soldering and a couple of sections of heat shrink. If this isn't your problem now, I can assure you at some point it will be. Ask me how I know.
