If it doesn't work right as is, and you can't just rotate it back 90 degrees from where it hits the block and move the plug wires around 1 spot accordingly then you will probably have to pull the distributor, pull the distributor drive gear out, and move it a tooth or two in the proper direction. Then replace it (it can be difficult to get the spade/slot oil pump drive to re-engage - gently press down on the gear and roatate the motor (the teeth should be engaged, but it generally needs some manipulation to get the drive aligned with the slot before it will go down that last 1/4 inch). Then reinstall the distributor, and re-time.
