Bumper Shocks 200

My 1980 242 GT was hit while parked in front of my house. I spent a couple of hours at the Pick and Pull to get a new driver side fender, bumper and turn signal. The driver side bumper shock is compressed and bent so I tried to remove one off of a donor car. I removed every bolt I could find including the large bolt on top of the chassis inside the engine compartment but I still could not remove the shock. Any suggestions from you fine folks is very welcome. Since the parts only cost me $70 so far I want to use the rest of the insurance money to repaint the car. Can anyone direct me to a website or book that will guide me through the process of prepping the car for a quality paint job. Thanks to all of you and take care. Also the 2003 Honda Civic that slammed into the 242 is toast. The impact tore about three feet into the Civic and broke her engine block, transaxle, radiator and every piece of plastic on the front of the Honda. The 242 was still drivable and doesn't seem to even need an alignment!
