What's this little black box? 700 1991

Within the driver's-side dashboard there's a little 3x4x1 black box, (partially blocking access to the bulbs for the idiot lamps in the instrument cluster); it has a finned-heatsink, a 14-pin connector, and a DIN connector attached to it. Black on one side, aluminum color on the other. Volvo part# 3533161.
