hard brake pedal-poor brakes 200

My 1986 285000, has been sitting for 4 months, resurrected temporarily, has poor brakes. The brake pedal while driving is very firm, short movement, poor braking.
After checking the archives, I will now look at the brake lines, booster, check valve ( wherever that is)and stuck calipers.
Any other suggestions?
