6 cylinder turbo diesel

Just looking for some info on the 6 cylinder turbo diesel. I know that is was originaly a VW engine. What kind of power do they put out? I am looking for an engine for my 86 Toyota pickup. What size is the engine? What models and years was it offered in? Has anyone had luck running them on bio diesel or wvo? Any help would be good.
