Nice to read a post as well-written as yours.

There are some bricksters in NOVA, one is - I think - Summerduckman. I know of another in Charlottesville, but that's not in the NOVA area, is it?

There is an enormous amount of knowledge on this board, some gained through solely experience and some from folks making a living at wrenching Volvos.
