Can an electrical equivalent from a 240 (or some other choice) be mounted and routed to some sensor which will cause it to open and close along with changes in engine temp.

Ira, I'm fairly familiar with 240 K-jet, and am concerned about the underlined part above — also the "open and close along with changes in engine temp" part.

The AAV isn't meant to follow changes in engine temp. It is strictly a cold start, cold-running device to admit extra air to go with the richer cold mixture (sort of like a fast-idle cam on a choked carburetor).

The electrical part is just a heater that influences a bi-metallic spring to close the air aperture more quickly than would the slow increase in ambient engine temp. The spec for this electrical warm-up transition is 10 minutes.

On the 240, the AAV heater voltage is constant (as long as the engine is running), since it comes from the fuel relay. I'm sure you could work out something similar.
