How do I remove the crank shaft pulley? 200

I'm trying to put a new timing belt on my brother's '86 240DL wagon with a B230 engine and an automatic transmission. How do I remove the crank shaft pulley? I tried sticking a screw driver into the flywheel though the holes on the bell housing but I can't get the flywheel to stick while I undo the bolt on the crank shaft pulley. Anyone have any suggestions?
