Fuel pumps etc. 200 1985

i need to get a 240 dl wagon up and running after setting idle for 5 years. A mechanic says it needs fuel pumps (locked up) and a filter before he can analize any other problems. Est. price: $700. I believe I can do the job myself. I've replaced mech pumps on older domestic v8 engines and since this is an above the ground operation, with care it could be done in an afternoon.

Also what other things should be checked and / or replaced in addition to belts, hoses, tires and battery? Are the injectors likely to be mucked up?

Parts: where's a good source that can supply new parts but not as pricey as dealership parts? Are there any references better than the Hanes manual that I own? Suggestions and advice is appreciated. I just scanned the VolvoSite and they seem to have the parts needed. Feedback?
