a 1966 PV544 444-544

According to my resources (PV-klubben Faktabok), 1965 was the last year of production, referred to as the 544 G model. In total 3401 of the G models were produced, ending the PV production run of 440,000 cars on October 20th, 1965. The last car produced was apparently saved for the museum, although it is not yet on display.

The 1965 production, started in August of 1965 was broken down into sub-models:

11121F - 19 produced (Favorit, stripped down for domestic market)
11134F - 2260 (Special model)
11234F - 435 (Special model)
11244F - 408 (Sport model)
Okända - 279 (Literal translation is "unknown")

The first digit, 1 signifies a "personbil" or private car, opposed to the commercial Duett (2). The second 1 signifies the 544 model (2 - Amazon 4 door, 3 - Amazon 2 door and 8 for the 1800). The 3rd digit is 1 for a B18A and 2 for the mainly exported B18D engine. The 4th digit indicates the market this PV was built for; 2 - Sweden domestic, 3 - export, 4 - USA export. The 5th digit signifies the transmission; 1 - M30, 3 speed and 4 - M40, 4 speed. The last letter indicates the year manufactured - F 1965 production.

Since the production only lasted 3 months and it can take up to a further 3 months to arrive at the dealership, I can see why some of these were possibly sold in calendar year 1966 as a 1966 model.

We can discuss this further in Kansas City. See you there...
