Headliner Headache 1800

I am replacing my headliner in my 73 ES and I am having some problems. First, I bought my new headliner from Vintage Parts out of Canada and there were no installation instructions. The headliner looks to be a match with the exception of the plastic keeper along the edge. It isn't molded to make radius as is the case with the old headliner.

Started installing and found that when I got to the front the length was about an inch short. Prior to pulling and ripping my new investment I thought I would search the BB to check with the masters. Any step by step instructions from the masses will be most appreciated.
