When I did start the car yesterday afternoon, it was much warmer (~90 F) that it was in the morning (~75 F). But 75 is not all that cool, imho. I started the car up this morning w/o choke. Fast start minimal cranking. Ran great, reved great. I let is warm up for a couple of minutes and headed out. I got to the end of my block, started out from the stop sign and about midway through intersection the engine kinda popped (Almost like a small backfire) and the power just evaporated. I was able to hit the clutch, rev it up and get moving through, but it kept popping and giving me low power for the next six blocks.
After I reached a main street, it started running nicer, and by the time I hit the interstate it was back to running much like yesterday.
While I know a cold engine can do these sorts of things, it's the suddeness of this development that bothers me. It was harder to start and ran a bit rougher before I cleaned everything, but it also did not pop and choke for the 1st ten minutes of any trip. Now it starts great, runs nice (when warm), but stumbles all over the place.
