lots of smoke 700

I recently took my car to a garage for a new temperature sending unit. When i picked the car up the mechanic told me the turbo needed to be replaced. He told me it was smoking. The car had not ever smoked up untill this point. I drove the car home and a cloud of smoke followed me. I called the garage and asked what was going on. He said that they drove the car, it was fine, then it idled for about 15 minutes while they worked on the temp guage. After this idle time is when they noticed the smoking. It has been smoking now for 5 days I cant even drive on the road because of this. what happened to my car?
