Cleaned Engine and now no start 200 1998

Cleaned out the engine in hopes of pinpointing some oil leaks. Now it won't start, and if it does it may or may not keep going. Something acts funny when I make sharp turns where the wheel seems to shake a lot. Used lots of engine de-greaser to loosen up the grit and a high-powered hose to wash it off. I put plastic bags over the battery and the wiring, but failed to cover whatever got wet and isn't working. I know, I know this was a n00b dum-dum move and I have a nice big white cone cap on right now. Any help would be nice lest I get the ol' brick towed and fork out $$$ to the local Volvo mechanic.

Thanks for any responses.

Kind Regards, David
