'Dieseling' on a 140 140-160

Hallo all you Volvoites

I am writing from England to pick your brains on a problem I have. I am a Volvo Virgin as I have never owned one before - so be gentle with me!

My 73 145 B20 Carb engine runs sweet as a nut but after 15 minutes of running she will 'diesel' ( or overrun as we Brits call it )for about 3 seconds after being switched off. If I try to start her after 5 minutes she is very reluctant, but once running she is fine again.

She does seem to run a bit hot (temp gauge is unreliable but I can tell from the heat of the engine )- but she doesn't boil over - just hotter than she should be.

Question - is the dieseling a symptom of overheating or is there another ( more sinister ) explaination ( timing, fuel mix etc)

Any replies gratefully received
