The ECU is a Bosch # xxx935.
I have researched it and found nothing about it as far as a Volvo stock ECU for a 940 is concerned. It may have been a replacement for the OEM one. It came out of a Bosch LH 2.4 FI system 940 that had the brown top injectors, same as the ones on my 240. The particular 940 also had a Volvo stock 2-stage elec fan system which has yet to be installed in my 240.
The dead carcas had a rod thrown through the side of the block, and it lodged in the left fenderwall. I didn't think you could do that with a B230F n/a motor, but after putting the ECU into my 240, I find it has great top end with much better torque curve. Zoom! Pulls right up to redline, with a solid power band from 4000-6000 rpm.
Before I made the switch, I contacted somebody in Sweden who said that if I could find one, a 940 n/a ECU from a Bosch 2.4 FI car would automatically get me 142 hp without doing anything else. Most US 940's had either the LH 3.0 or the Regina system. Now I believe the guy from SAM in Sweden. With the VX cam, adjustable cam gear, IPD sport exhaust, Carsound cat, and modified K&N intake from a '78 242GT (no air warmer), I think the car is pushing between 155 and 160 hp.
For those of you who may think it would have problems with emissions inspection (myself included!) here are the numbers taken 8/15/05:
Low speed, 767 rpm HC(ppm) 36 CO(%) 0.01
High Speed. 2562 rpm HC(ppm) 29 CO(%) 0.03
