Thanks George and others. I will assess it this weekend and let you know. I can't beleive that it could be so bad that a bit of welding won't put it right. Especially when he tells me the rest of the car seems to be in not bad condition. If it looks like an all consuming project car, I will be walking away; I already have too many Volvo projects on the go.
Good idea about taking some picutres, though. If only I know how to post them to this site.
