Hello fellow Brickboarders! I just wanted to pop in to make all (well, those of you not in Sweden) jealous that I'm currently in the home city of quite a sizable chunk of Volvo operations and mostly notably the Volvo Museum, Gothenburg, Sweden!
I'm currently taking part in a foreign study program my university has in Bonn, Germany. I live with a host family and attend classes in the city every weekday, but our weekends are free to use as we please. When I realized that I had a great opportunity being a student in Europe with a little extra travel money to spend, I immediately planned a trip to Sweden and the Museum--I'm currently in the middle of that excursion!
Today I went to the Museum, and though I had a great time (a Volvo book, poster, 240 lapel pin, and 200 Swedish Kroner later!), I must say I was a little surprised that the museum wasn't a little bit larger and more informative about some of the cars. Nevertheless, I had an incredible time, took hundreds (like 400+) pictures, and am so thankful I decided to make this trip, despite no one going with me and not being able to speak Swedish.
I do plan on sharing some of the more notable pictures (the Group A racing 242 Turbo, the prototype 263, and some pictures of me next to giant Volvo signs on the compound!), but I won't be able to do that for a while because I don't have easy, reliable Internet access to use to upload and link the pictures. But, when I do, rest assured that I'll let you guys know. Until then, start planning your own trips to Götenborg!
