Getting to hate this engine B20B 140-160 1970

I had a 72 142s about 18 years ago with HIF6's. Don't know if this will cure your problem but this is what I did to my carbs. The main jet holder/adjuster is a bi-metal strip. It is designed to lean out the mixture after warming up for emission reasons. I simply removed the upper and lower pieces of metal that sandwhiched the jet holder. It seemed to hold a more constant idle after that mod and I live in Florida where the ambient temps are always relativly high.
If memory serves I think all I used was a hacksaw. Hope this helps.

Regards,Jim
