940 SE Alarm System 900 1994

I recently - last week - bought a 940SE from an old gentleman. He had lost the remote for the alarm but the car started and locked fine. This morning the alarm seems to have set itself and now the horn sounds and the lights flash when I open a door. I have tried going back through the locking and unlocking procedure with both keys and still the alarm goes off. The car is also immobilised. I have read the Volvo guard amnual and it seems to want me to reset the alarm with the remote - this is the remote I don't have.
Can anyone advise me on how to get this two ton pile of metal moving again?
