Problem with Transmission Pan???

I have an '81 245. I recently discovered a crack on the dipstick tube. More or less on the fitting that attaches to the pan. The crack is flush with the side of the fluid pan. My question is...is there a fitting that threads into the side of the pan...then the dipstick tube threads into the fitting? or is that "fitting" part of the pan...non-removeable? If part of the pan...where do I get a new pan and how much $? I am hoping someone will have some advice...about to drive from CO to MI in one week. Thanks
