960 look 940

I live in the UK, so my 940 is a Right hand drive, manual gearbox (M90) 2.3 Turbo. The detuned those very late cars so it only has about 165 BHP.

I'm racking up the miles on it and am at a loss what to repace it with. The last one I had I replaced with a V70, and I don't like it. it's torque steery and too small. More fun than a 940 over shortish distances, but do a 1000 miles in a day in it and you're absolutely whacked.

I then bought a Mercedes E320 CDI, which is awesome. 200 plus BHP out of a diesel engine, extremely quiet and an easy 37 miles to the imperial Gallon. Unfortunately Mercedes seem to have made the guy who designed reliability into their cars redundant. A trip to the dealer on average every 2000 miles got a bit tiresome. Mercedes bought that one back off me.

I don't want to own a four wheel drive, or an SUV and the V50 is even smaller.

That kind of leaves a BMW 5 series, which are physically big, but the packaging as an estate lousy

Hence, do I build a bespoke updated 940?

Regards

Pete
