Overdrive Problem Manual transmission 200 1982

My car is an '82 244DL Manual 4spd+OD 169K miles. Driving home from Penna. I had some overdrive trouble.Some times whenever I tried to engage the OD after pushing the button it would not engage until a 15-20 second interval passed.It could be turned of but to re-engage the same thing happened. As I am changing my engine oil this weekend what should I check for on the OD aside from the transmission oil level while I am under the car ?
