Removing 240 Distributor Trigger Wheel

I need to replace the Hall impulse sender on my 88 240 distributor. My Bentley manual indicates there is a circlip holding it in place, but on my dizzy the wheel looks like it is pressed on to the ditributor shaft and there is no circlip in sight. Does anyone know how the wheel comes free so I can get to the impluse sender. Thanks.
