Open Gasket... 120-130 1967

Jeff;

To raise the survival rate of the gaskets, after loosening all the screws holding the bowl lids on, lift them very slowly and inspect the situation at the lid/gasket interface to make sure they either stay totally with the lid or with the body...if either, then no problemo, but if half stays on the bowl and half stays on the lid, they wont survive oviously...

...in that case, use a blade to carefully pry a sticky gasket. Problems are rare, and occur only if some well-meaning, but missinformed previous wrencher figured he'd stop the carb overflowing by gooping the gaskets on (when all the time the fuel was coming out of the overflows anyway)...

Clean surfaces and reuse cleaned gaskets...the compression alone will do the sealing fine...

Cheers
