Stereo repair sources? 200 1991

Has anyone had experience with getting an OE stereo repaired? AM works great, tape works great, but there's static and occasional squawking when on FM. One local radio repair shop claims they can't repair Volvo radios and the radio needs to be taken back to the dealer under Volvo's exchange program. Dealer claims that my radio isn't even listed in the exchange program and to take it to be repaired. Talk about a runaround. For a variety of reasons, I'd rather repair the OE unit than install an aftermarket one. Thanks in advance.
