Spare 'donut' tire

In the contents of the "Standard Kit" all of my drivers have, besides the jumper cables and tow strap and flashlight, is a 12 volt air compressor.

Found them at ACE Hardware years ago. Used to be $9.99, now up to around $15, still made in China. Plugs into the cigar lighter and has a long long wire with a switch. Gauge on the compressor. It tends to "walk" around when running, so I keep it in an anti-freeze jug with the side cut out.

It has always gotten me home. Even the late night that I limped (flumpety-flumped?) into a 7/24 gas station. Tire looked beyond the state of holding any air, but - wht the hell - tried it anyway. Slowly it came up - made it to 40 psi at which point I packed up and zipped for home. Next day pumped it up a little and got to Discount Tire so they could do the heavy lifting.

Get one, teach your wife.sig how to use it. Even if you do get a spare.

Good Luck,

Bob
