A/C To recharge or not? 900

My a/c was blowing warm so I added some freon to hold me off for a while. It worked for a couple of weeks and it's blowing warm again. Since the weather is starting to get cooler now, can I just wait until next spring/summer to get it done properly at an indie shop? I was just concerned that using the a/c, defroster this winter could cause some damage without the proper refrigerant and oil levels in the system.

Any advice?
