Blower Motor - Good News/Bad News - Need opinion 200

The blower motor on my 87 240 was not spinning and it was causing the fuse to heat up. So I cut a hole in the motor case and spun the motor by hand - it came to life. Its noisy and doesn't spin well at lower speeds. Do I bite the bullet and put one in now or wait until this is 100% dead. Do these last a lonf time even after they are noisy? Given I have one hole already - is the chainsaw method the better approach to this repair ?

Thanks

Derek.-
