rattling under front tire over bumbps 900

I have a 95 945 with 91 K miles. I changed out the cone rod bushings 2 wks ago for routine manintenance and it seems to have tightened up the steering..However there is a rattling that sounds like it is coming from the right front tire area. I hear it when going over even a very small bump or road imperfection. it sounds like the tire is loose which it isnt. I jacked the car up and there is no up-down or lateral play in the tire. The rest of the front end looks fine. I suspect its the rt front ball joint..but if I hear this, I would expect to see some up-down looseness and movement in the tire when off the ground. Should I just replace the ball joints??? Thanks JOHN
