window mechanism 120-130

Today I got pulled over twice for my classic car plates, cops up here in Bellingham, WA just don't seem to understand. Both times I had to upon my door up to hand them my registration, how embarrassing. The cable is snapped inside the door that rolls the window up and down. Anyone had any luck just buying some new cable, cutting it to the right size, and cinching it in?

BTW. The new master cylinder works great and the high idle was a linkage problem. For $150 this is the best thing ever!
