Update... Long, of course. ;-) 140-160

Been quite busy of late... My new job's going well enough, glad I'm getting the experience and money. Last week was getting rough going from one job to the next though with driving through traffic in between. I haven't been in the 142 though, that's been sitting at the shop for over a week now. I got new rear Balo rotors and PBR Ultimate brake pads ready to go in when we get the stuff for the brake lines. I'll just be using Castrol GT LMA again for now.

As for the people who're saying leave the brakes alone... I'll let you know how it goes. But I'm doing it, and it'll be great, for me. If I start going autoxing with it, it'll be perfect. A little more action from the rear brakes will help me rotate under braking instead of just locking up the front brakes and going straight. Better braking balance because my car will have much less dive than stock and the rear tires will have a TON more grip than the original bias ply tires and stock suspension could have ever dreamed of creating. It'll be fine. Paul says so and I trust him as well as agree with the concept of it.

About school... ME is a slight possiblity, although very slight indeed. And at OSU it will be not. My boss at Eurocar's son went to OSU for the first three years, then transferred over to PSU. I don't remember his initial reason for it, but he said it was a lot better because you don't have the professors that are out doing research and other stuff instead of teaching. So instead of having teacher's aids you have the actual teachers around more to help. That was the main thing he was saying anyway. But still, the idea of sitting in front of a book for hours on end is not my style. Does not appeal to me in any way. Never has, and I've never needed to.

My current thinking and plan is to take MAYBE one class next term, just so I stay in it. But, at the same time, I could just wait until fall term instead of next winter term. A year off was originally the plan. That'll give me time to settle down with everything I've got going on right now, get my 142 fixed up and going good for the summer, and get my 145 cleaned up enough and titled to get rid of next summer as well. When I start classes back up they'll be night classes, and mostly just general baccore stuff and some classes in the business field. I think I'll end up getting a business degree of sorts because it won't be as formula memorization based. Business Management maybe. One guy I've met went to OSU and got his ME bachelors, and then went to MIT for his Masters in Business Management wierdly enough. He's now at HP making some decent money and driving around his sweeeet V8 740 wagon. Simon Dodd if any of you know him.

And, I'm going to buy my mom's 1991 244. Sure it's an automatic, but it's a beaut of a car. Only has 102k on it, drives like new, goes just as fast, if not faster than my 142 currently does. Starts right up, has cruise control, heated seats, keyless entry, no fussy choke, blah blah lots more. Great for a daily driver while the 142 sleeps and gets worked on. Over the winter I'll get my 142's tighter steering box put in, gas tank sealed, and other minor things like bodywork and whatever else I get around to. The 244 though just drives amazingly. So confidence inspiring. I haven't been able to drive the 142 hard in SO long that I don't know what it feels like. I've been scared to push it though. After these brakes I should be able to dish it out, but still will have to deal with a 3.5cylinder engine. But again, on the 244, with STOCK suspension, and CRAPPY, extremely cheap and balding tires, I can go around corners with aplomb. Quite the balanced car, it is. Can't imagine what it'll be like after springs/shocks/sways and decent wheels/tires.

I think that's all for now folks! Thanks for the conversation guys, I appreciate it!
-Kyle
