Which 240 do I have? 200

The designation of DL, GL, etc. was used when 240s came as base (DeLuxe) or fancy (Grand Luxe).

GL's had leather, power windows, chrome lock knobs, seat heaters, a tach, fancier tail lights, etc. In the 1982-1985 years often this year's GL was next year's DL.

In 1983-84 the 240 badge was DL or GL, no 240 numbers. Before then they got the third digit - 244, 245, 242, designating the number of doors.

After then, well the 740s came out, so the 240 got its numbers back, but all third digits were zero. Many bricksters still use the third digit as a quick way to say "wagon" or "Sedan".

By 1990 or so Volvo wanted to end the 240 production run. Ending was delayed by popular outcry (remember Star Trek?) until 1993. The years runs got smaller, and it was uneconomical to continue the DL, GL, etc. One ordered what features one wanted. I suppose the idea was to use up all the stuff. Power windows, power locks, seat heaters, tach, fancy radios, third seats for the 245s, get what you want.

You have a 240 wagon. Period. No GL, DL, sorry. Some Special Editions were made, badged SE.

If you want to add a tach (highly recommended) it is an easy job. Post if you want, you'll get all the info you need.

You could also add cruise control, and leather - not as easy - if you want.

Happy Bricking!
