With fall starting earlier with you northerners up there, you get to enjoy the fall colors a bit earlier. The trees are not yet turning here, but we are setting out pumpkins and picking apples.
My summer was good in that my family took a six-week trip x-country to see my parents and extended family in California, and we camped in many national parks on the way, having many memorable adventures (saw a fleet of 1930s Rolls Royces doing a "Big Sky" tour through Yellowstone). The transmission on our minivan also had to be rebuilt twice in a week! (a long story...) Aside from the transmission though, my newfound mechanical skills came in useful in maintaining and working on our minivan along the way, and I was even able to diagnose and fix a problem on my cousin's car in LA, while we visited him there.
My poor Volvo has had too long a stay at the mechanic's over the summmer, probably made worse by the fact that he knew we were away and did not make it a priority, despite my encouragement to have it ready by the time we got back. But its brakes have been completely overhauled--new hard lines, flex lines, master cylinder, rear cylinders, refinished rotors, a rebuilt caliper, brake pads. All new bushings in the front and back, and new ball joints. I've installed a new fuel sending unit, and have a shiny new exterior mirror.
My old shop manual is missing the section on the door locks. I've heard you can find the old manuals online somewhere, but I haven't looked it up yet. If you have it handy to email that would be appreciated!
It sounds like the Kansas City meet was really nice. Maybe they'll have the next one over here in the east (and to think I didn't get out to the Gettysburg one).
Hope your dachshunds are well!
Holly
